Human beings have an urge to save a record of everything they see ever since their existence began. This has been proven by archeology and exploration. In the Stone Age when there were no cameras or even paint, human beings used to use their tools to carve their inscriptions on the walls of caves and rocks. This means that the art of painting and the desire to keep memories has always been there. This deep desire to save a moment forever in the form of a picture gave birth to a fantastic form of art -- photography.
Photography is an art, a passion, a hobby and an important tool of the modern age. Photography is the means of capturing or creating a still picture on to a film using a scientifically automated system. The camera was invented long ago and now we have the most sophisticated forms of camera devices. This has led to an even wider range of exciting types of photographs and has increased the use of photography as an art form in its own right.
Photography can be divided into many different categories specific to the interest of photographer. These divisions are natural photography, fashion photography, wild life photography, media or press photography, and so on. Photography has become a science and is being taught at different schools and art institutes.
In older cameras, film was used to take images with the help of a lens. These films could take a maximum of thirty six photos each. Now technology has allowed us to create digital cameras and now pictures and snaps are recorded on a memory stick. With this you can take thousands of pictures, save them on a memory stick and then put them on your computer or have them printed.
Photography requires basic knowledge of camera, angles, light effects and many other things. Expert photographers know how to take certain picture from a specific angle and distance. Indoor photography is different from the outdoor photography and requires experience and knowledge. Many people adopt this profession as hobby and then photography becomes their profession. This is a dedicated job which requires passion. Professional photographers use professional cameras with highly advanced lens systems which can capture images in a fraction of a second. There are competitions held throughout the world to award the best pictures and photographers for their commendable work.
